Running a small business is no joke, right? There never seems to be enough hours in the day. Having a great team makes all the difference because they're the ones who keep everything moving.

I've been in the HR game for over 13 years across several industries and have seen many challenges businesses face. Especially in today's climate, strong people strategies are integral. From large corporations to startups, one thing remains true: people are at the core of every business. As an HR leader, I've not only focused on HR but also on the business side, ensuring that people strategies align with overall business goals and drive growth.

My journey in HR has been shaped by my background in sports. I played competitive basketball most of my childhood, and the lessons I learned still stick with me today. Teamwork, resilience, and leadership are at the heart of everything I do. I believe in creating environments where everyone feels valued and included, and I bring this philosophy to every aspect of my work.

I started Untapped HR because I wanted to break away from the traditional HR mold. Small businesses need more resources, especially people resources, to thrive. Did you know that small businesses make up 99.9% of all businesses in the U.S.? My passion for starting Untapped HR comes from a deep desire to see small businesses succeed and make a positive impact in their communities. Since then, Untapped HR has been dedicated to helping small businesses grow by offering tailored, flexible HR solutions that truly make a difference. It's incredibly rewarding to see local businesses thrive and know that we're part of their journey.

Most recently, I served as the Director of People & Strategy at The Uplift Agency, a startup focused on sustainability and social impact. I led an inclusive HR strategy that empowered our team and supported business growth. My efforts helped the company scale and double in size during a crucial transitional period.

Before joining Uplift, I led recruitment as the HR Recruitment Manager at NOW Foods, a leading international natural products manufacturer. During my eight-year career at NOW, I held multiple leadership positions, developing and executing HR strategies, building a more inclusive and diverse culture, and leading the company’s high-growth staffing needs. Prior to NOW Foods, I was an HR Manager & HR District Leader with Target Corporation in the Chicagoland area.

Giving back to my community is super important to me. I serve as an Associate Board Member of New Moms, an organization dedicated to supporting and empowering young mothers. I'm also a proud alumna of Willie's Warriors, a leadership program through the Chicago Foundation for Women, which supports minority women leaders committed to change and impact in the Chicago area. I love contributing to job and college fairs in the Chicagoland area by leading resume and career workshops.

I'm always eager to learn and stay ahead in the ever-evolving HR landscape. I'm a member of the Society of Human Resources Management with a Senior Certified Professional certification (SHRM-SCP). In November 2023, I earned a certification in Diversity and Inclusion - HR Leadership through the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI).

I live in Chicago with my husband and our dog, Honcho. Honcho is a 12-pound Yorkipoo who thinks he's a big dog! He's got some serious confidence and a knack for mischief! I want to be Honcho in my next life.

When I'm not working, you'll find me traveling, catching up on sports and fashion, finding a new plant baby, or getting a good workout in. My favorite travel destinations are Lisbon and Barcelona—crossing places off my bucket list is one of my favorite things to do. I also love spending time with my family.
